Mamata Banerjee orders probe into corruption charges against Rajib Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday (February 3) lashed out at former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Rajib Banerjee and accused him of “malpractices” in the appointment of several forest department officials.
 

Mamata Banerjee says she has received a complaint from forest officials that Rajib Banerjee had done corruption with the appointment in Forest Department. She says that the matter will be investigated.

The Chief Minister joined the Trinamool workers' meeting at the parade ground in Alipurduar on Wednesday. From there, Mamata Banerjee accused Rajiv Banerjee of corruption. "Anyone claiming a job as a forest department assistant will be reconsidered if they are deprived,” she said.

Recently, forest department assistants have been appointed in different districts of North Bengal. According to that notification of appointment, priority will be given to forest dwellers. Even those who are working to protect the forest will get this benefit. Meanwhile, the CM alleged corruption in that appointment.

The CM said, “Those who have switched political allegiance will be defeated in the Assembly polls. Their shops will be closed after the polls.”

The Chief Minister accused the BJP of buying “greedy” leaders, and claimed those joining the opposition party were non-performers who would not have been given tickets by her party. Therefore, they left the party.
