Depression Effect: Heavy to Very Heavy Rains Expected
Heads up! The weather department is warning of heavy rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh today, August 15th. A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has now become a full-blown depression. It has already crossed the coast and is causing heavy showers all over the country. So, expect a wet Independence Day in the Telugu states.

Heavy Rains in Telangana Today
This depression has also supercharged the monsoons. After a few clear days, the skies are turning dark again. The weather department warns that several districts in Telangana will get heavy rain on August 15. North Telangana, in particular, might see extremely heavy showers. The districts on alert are Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Siricilla, Peddapalli, and Jagtial.

Heavy Rains in Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has also issued a warning. They say the depression will heavily impact the state, especially North Andhra. The districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, and Anakapalli are likely to get heavy rainfall. APSDMA is asking people to stay safe, as thunderstorms and strong, gusty winds are also expected.
The IMD says this depression's effect will be felt strongly in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and states in the Gangetic basin. West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Kerala could see heavy to very heavy rains. The rain will also pick up pace in Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Eastern UP, Gujarat, Goa, and Rajasthan will face a similar situation. Even Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh will experience intense rainfall. Basically, the entire country is on alert for heavy showers.
