"Following a scene in which Superman mentally and physically burns out from trying to save everyone that he can," DC Comics said in a statement.

Superman fell in love with a reporter, and now his son is doing the same, but the superhero's love interest this time is a man named Jay. DC Comics revealed on Monday that the future Superman, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will be romantically involved with a male buddy.

In an August article, Jon Kent and aspiring journalist Jay Nakamura formed a bond. In a tale that will be published next month, they will kiss. Nakamura, a bespectacled writer with a pink bubblegum hairdo, made his first appearance in the third issue of the book as a shoulder for Kent to lean on when the business of becoming Superman gets too much for him.

"Following a scene in which Superman mentally and physically burns out from trying to save everyone that he can," DC Comics said in a statement. The plot will appear in "Son of Kal-El" issue five, released on November 9. In a news release titled "Jon Kent learns his identity," DC Comics portrayed the new Superman as "bisexual."

The narrative of the issue will be revealed in November. Still, photos from the comic depict Kent and Nakamura kissing and sitting together atop a skyscraper with their legs dangling over the side. According to series writer Tom Taylor, the growth of this new Superman adheres to the ideals that the character has always represented – and, more significantly, describes the experiences of many comic readers.

In the "Son of Kal-El" series, Jon Kent has fought for various social justice concerns, including battling wildfires and protesting the deportation of immigrants. The emergence of America's most famous superhero coincides with the acceptance of diversity in comic comics. This summer, "Aquaman" featured a Black homosexual superhero, while the current Robin in the Batman comics was bisexual in August.
