How's the First Half?

Right from the beginning, the director builds up the suspense bit by bit. The film's biggest strength is that it doesn't show you the ghost straight away. Instead, it creates this creepy feeling that 'something is definitely here...'. A room. A dark corner. A door. A bed. That's all it takes. But the constant thought of what might happen next is what keeps you on the edge of your seat.

What About the Jump Scares?

Oh, there are plenty! But even in scenes where you know something is about to pop out, the way it happens completely catches you off guard. The sound design and visuals work together so well that when something suddenly appears on screen, the whole theatre screams. In some scenes, the real shock hits you right after you think the scare is over. Now that's the classic 'Insidious' style.

The Pillow Fort Scenes... Seriously Scary!

One of the most memorable parts of the film are the scenes that happen around a small fort made of pillows in the bedroom. This pillow fort, which is usually a fun play area for kids, turns into a horrifying prison here. The tight space, dim lighting, and strange noises all come together to create a tense, almost suffocating atmosphere.

'The Further' – Could Have Been Scarier!

One of the best things about the 'Insidious' series is 'The Further'. That dark world beyond our own always gets the audience curious. This film also has scenes related to 'The Further', but there's a small disappointment here. The makers could have used that world a lot more. If they had shown its rules, the creatures living there, and its backstory in more detail, the movie would have been even more engaging.

The Film's Flaws

For those who've followed the 'Insidious' series, some scenes and twists might feel a bit familiar. The plot points—a family being attacked by a supernatural entity, a connection to the past, and the need to enter 'The Further'—will remind you of the earlier films.

Also, you're left wishing they had explored 'The Further' a bit more. But despite these small issues, the film really works in moments that will make you jump out of your seat. 'Insidious: Out of the Further' isn't a perfect horror movie, but it's a solid treat for anyone looking for a good scare in the theatre.

A little warning: try not to look in your car's rearview mirror on your way home. And if you start thinking about this film alone after everyone's asleep... well, that's on you!
