Anora won Best picture, the fifth Oscar for the night. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal presented the award. The film’s success followed Mikey Madison’s surprise Best Actress win and Sean Baker’s triumph in three categories—Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing. 

Mikey Madison has secured the Oscar for Best Actress for her powerful portrayal of the title character in Anora, adding to her previous wins at the BAFTAs and Independent Spirit Awards. 

Sean Baker won Best Director for Anora. This is his third Oscar win of the night. Anora is a heartfelt yet zany drama about a Brooklyn sex worker who marries a Russian oligarch’s son. 

Cillian Murphy presented the Oscar for Best actor which went to Adrien Brody for The Brutalist. “Thank you, God,” he said, as he voice broke.

The performance was a non-stop thrill ride, with BLACKPINK's Lisa singing 'Live and Let Die,' Doja Cat performing 'Diamonds Are Forever,' and Raye closing things out with a powerhouse version of 'Skyfall.'

After winning the BAFTA for Best Original Score, the Brutalist won the Oscar. To represent the film's themes of creation and memory, Daniel Blumberg composed a mournful and unique music with four pianists, forceful percussion rhythms, and horns.

I’m Still Here (Brazil) won the Best international feature. It was presented by Penélope Cruz.

Lol Crawley earned his first Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on The Brutalist. Throughout his victory speech, which included expressions of gratitude to the Academy, his fellow candidates, his staff, and his family, his hands were clearly shaking.

Despite facing stiff competition from films such as Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Maria, and Nosferatu, The Brutalist succeeded in achieving its goal. Consuming leafy greens such as spinach and kale helps eliminate toxins, alleviate bloating, and avoid excessive eating.

Dutch filmmaker Victoria Warmerdam’s I’m Not a Robot won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. 

Anuja, the only Indian submission on the Oscar shortlist, lost to I'm Not a Robot, which won Best Live Action Short.

Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot presented the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

 

Best Sound was accepted by Gareth John, Richard King, Ron Bartlett, and Doug Hemphill, recognizing their exceptional work in crafting the film’s immersive audio experience. The sci-fi epic triumphed over strong contenders like Wicked and Emilia Pérez.

Selena Gomez and Samuel L Jackson presented the Oscar for the Best documentary feature.

Mick Jagger presented the Oscar for Best Original Song to Emilia Pérez's El Mal. The song, composed by Clément Ducol and Camille with lyrics by Ducol, Camille, and Audiard, triumphed over strong contenders, including tracks by Elton John and Diane Warren.

Ben Stiller presented the Oscar for Best production design which went to Wicked.

Amy Poehler presented XX with the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.  The film won against strong candidates such as A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, Nickel Boys, and Sing Sing, winning the writing category.

Zoe Saldana won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Emilia Pérez. During her speech, she broke down and said. “Mommy. My mommy is here.”

 

Peter Straughan wins the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave, which is based on the 2016 novel about the clandestine process of selecting a new Pope. Straughan, who was previously nominated for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), won a Golden Globe this year for his role in Conclave.

Sean Baker, filmmaker of Anora and Tangerine, won his first Oscar for honouring the real-life inspirations for his works. In his remarks, he expressed his thanks to the sex worker community for sharing their tales and life experiences, saying, "I share this with you."

The film triumphed over Beautiful Men, Magic Candies, Wander to Wonder, and Yuck!.

Kieran Culkin won the Oscar for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the 97th Academy Awards for A Real Pain.

He beat Edward Norton, Yura Borisov, Guy Pearce, and his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong. “I should thank my mom and Steve for trying to raise me. You’re really good people,” he said as part of his speech.

The superstar singer and her stylist Mimi Cuttrell selected a blush pink Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture strapless bustier gown with a bodice that extended into a sculptural peplum waist. The design also featured a voluminous nude-coloured skirt covered in more than 190,000 sequins and rhinestones that complemented the sparkle of her blingy necklace, as per People.
