Tortured Sharjah maid posts desperate plea for help on social media

In what seems like a desperate attempt, a woman who had gone to Sharjah to work as a maid has posted a heartbreaking video alleging torture by her employers and the job agent.
The veracity of her claims, however, can’t be verified independently.
The woman in the video alleged that was sent to Sharjah with the promise of job by the consultancy after collecting initially Rs. 60, 000 from her. The consultancy asked her to pay the remaining Rs 1 lakh every month from Sharjah but she was unable to pay.
The woman reached Sharjah on December 24, 2016 on a visitor visa. She was assured of returning to India in one week or a month’s time if she doesn’t like working there.
She was not given any work for a month but was physically and mentally tortured. She was beaten by the consultancy agent in Dubai. When asked to be sent home to India, the agent asked her to pay Rs. 2 lakhs to be sent home.
The agent, who she met in UAE told her that the Indian agent had sold her to him claiming she an orphan. “I begged and pleaded with him but he beat me without mercy and tried to take advantage of me,” the woman alleged in the video.
The owner for whom she’s working also tortured and harassed her. Narrating her ordeal, the woman said she was most scared at night. “The eldest son of the owner tries to take advantage of me. He knocks at the door late in the night at 1:30 am and 2:00 am. And as I don't open the door, he tortures me during the day,” she added.
The woman tearfully pleaded that she wants to return back to India and needs to be rescued from the clutches of the agent, the owner and her son.
Before concluding the video, the woman also her present address as Al Noaf, house number 9947, State 24 in Sharjah and sought help from anyone who could hear her call for help.
