Blue Whale claims another life? Kannur boy's suicide comes under spotlight

After a teenager in Thiruvananthapuram killed himself recently by playing the Blue Whale challenge, it has now emerged that the game could have claimed more lives in Kerala.
Sawant, an ITI student who hailed from Kannur, is suspected to be another victim of the fatal online game. His mother told a news channel that he hanged himself in May after playing the game for weeks.

The mother showed photos, proving that Sawant had hurt himself by inflicting injuries to his hands and chest. She said that he was found using his mobile phone the whole night and used to sleep only in the morning.
Sawant also reportedly went out alone in the night. His parents subjected him to counselling following his unusual behaviour but even that couldn't dissuade him from continuing to play the game.

Manoj, a 16-year-old from Thiruvananthapuram who committed suicide on July 26, was considered the first known victim of Blue Whale challenge in Kerala. His mother revealed the boy had tried various tasks like going to a cemetery at midnight, jumping into a river though he didn't know swimming and inflicting knife injuries on self.
