Kavya poojary student deaths alvas educational institutions

Ever since the mysterious death of class X student Kavya Poojary has come to light at the Alva's High School in Moodbidri, the educational institution has come under much scrutiny. Kavya was found hanging at her hostel by her classmates and the police have registered her death as suicide, despite her distraught parents' demand to probe claiming it to be murder.

In fact, this was not the first time that prestigious Alva's Educational Institution has become the news for all the wrong news. For, there have been several such cases of students' death in the past. One would be astonished to know that in the last ten years, as many as 11 students have died allegedly due to unnatural deaths at the campus, reports Maadhyamanet.com.

According to the portal, worried at the deaths of students at the campus, Student Federation of India's district wing leader Nithin Kuttar has sought the information under the Right To Information Act. Nithin has sought the number of students' deaths at the campus from 2006 and the details provided under the RTI Act are certainly very disturbing.

Students who allegedly committed suicide were:

1. Pavan (17)

2. Vikram MS (18)

3. Prithvi MR (17)

4 Vishalakshi (17)

5. Venugoapl NA (16)

6. Roopa S Chavadi (17)

7. Rakshitha A (18)

8. Ashwini (17)

Students who allegedly collapsed and died

9. Niranjan Madhugiri

10. Niveditha (19)

At least seven students have hanged themselves to death in this institution (from 2006 to October 13, 2016). Kavya too was found hanging, reports Maadhyamanet.

It is  reported that the police have filed a final report in cases from 1 to 7 and also 9 and 10 while a chargesheet has been filed on case 8 in March 23, 2017. In the rest two cases - 9 and 10 - the police have registered the cases as died after collapse but have failed to mention the reason for their collapse.

Amidst the cries for demanding a thorough probe into the death of Kavya Poojary, these startling information has certainly brought the focus on the institution management, run by noted Dr M Mohan Alva. Students from across the country come here seeking education and almost every year (as per the RTI) one student has alleged died mysteriously since 2006. These alleged unnatural deaths are mere co-incidence or there's something behind it will only be explained by the institution's authorities.
