CM Siddaramaiah holds secret meeting with Lingayat leaders

The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a secret meeting with Lingayat leaders who are striving to get independent religion status, on Thursday morning according to sources, reported Kannada Prabha.
Siddaramaiah arrived at Minister M B Patil’s private office at around 10.15 am in his private car. The meeting lasted till 11.30 am. Highly placed sources said the meeting was to discuss the agitation for getting independent status for Lingayats, legal problems faced, documents to prove Lingayat an independent religion, and the stand of Veerashaiva Mahasabha among other issues.
Sources said Siddaramaiah assured that the application already submitted and in case a fresh application has to be submitted that along with supporting documents will be sent to Karnataka Minorities Commission. He assured he will also forward the application submitted by the Veerashaiva Mahasabha.
Ministers M B Patil, Vinay Kulkarni, Dr Sharana Prakash Patil, MP Prakash Hukkeri, MLAs Basavaraja Horatti and Ashok Pattana were present at the meeting.
