Apple users take to social media during global outage, say 'iMessage is king'

Apple enthusiasts boasted on Twitter about how their "iOS universe" was superior since only they had access to the "supreme" chat app.

During the global social media outage that lasted till early Tuesday morning, Apple customers banded together on the internet to remind everyone why the tech giant's exclusive instant messaging tool iMessage was the greatest of all and supreme as well. As Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram went down throughout the world, millions of feeds didn't load, messages didn't go through, and calls couldn't connect, effectively leaving everyone using those applications stuck for hours at a time.

Meanwhile, Apple customers still had one more tool on their iPhones that they could use to remain in touch with their contacts: iMessage. Apple enthusiasts boasted on Twitter about how their "iOS universe" was superior since only they had access to the "supreme" chat app. To no one's surprise, iMessage quickly became a trending topic on Twitter.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of the digital behemoths Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram, apologised for the outage and assured that the services would be restored on Tuesday. "Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger are all backup and operational," Zuckerberg said on Facebook. "I apologise for the inconvenience today; I understand how much you rely on our services to keep connected with the people you care about," he said.

Facebook's reputation has suffered as a result of the last 48 hours. First, a former Facebook employee said that the company prioritised profit before combating hate speech and disinformation. Frances Haugen, a former product manager for Facebook's civic disinformation team, said that her former employers misled about making progress against bigotry and misinformation on their platform.
