Ex-armyman suicide: Rahul, Sisodia detained, then released

Rahul Sisodia detained outside RML hospital

 

 

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia were detained at the RML Hospital after they tried to meet the family of an ex-serviceman who allegedly committed suicide over the OROP issue.

 

 

The Vice President of Congress party was not allowed to enter the premises of the Centre government run hospital. Security personnel at the hospital stonewalled his repeated attempts to enter the premises that invited angry reaction from the young leader who lashed out at the central government. 

 

 

While speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi stated that he wonders whether democracy works in this fashion. 

 

 

Speaking on the issue senior police official, MK Meena, said, " We will not allow any kind of politics inside hospitals in Delhi. Democracy does not mean obstruction of health services. Rahul Gandhi has been detained at the Mandir Marg police station," 

 

 

Earlier, Deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia succeeded in entering the hospital and met the family members of the deceased, before the police detained him. 

 

 

As per eye witness account, Sisodia managed as he came on a civilian vehicle that went undetected by the security. 

 

 

Ram Kishan Grewal, a 70-year-old ex-serviceman, consumed poison to commit suicide at a park in New Delhi area yesterday evening over much disputed One Rank One Pension issue.According to a senior RML hospital official, Ram Kishan Grewal,  was  "brought dead to the hospital at 1.45 AM last night".
