IAF C-17 Globemaster evacuates over 150 Indians from Kabul

Over 150 Indians have been safely evacuated from Afghanistan where the elected government has now been overthrown by the Taliban militia.

Asianet Newsable had on Monday reported that an Indian Air Force C-17 was in Kabul to evacuate the stranded Indians.

Among those evacuated include Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Rudrendra Tandon, embassy staff, their family members, Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel and journalists who went to cover the war.

IAF C-17 aircraft that took off from Kabul, Afghanistan with Indian officials landed in Hindon airbase. 

On Sunday, the C-17 Globemaster aircraft had evacuated around 180 Indians.

New Delhi decided to shift its Ambassador in Kabul and its mission staff back to India in view of the prevailing circumstances. 

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council has asked the Taliban not to support terrorists operating on the territory of any other country.

Several member states had raised apprehensions that the country under the Taliban will be used by the terrorist organisations operating from Pakistan. 

UNSC members also asked them to ensure the territory of Afghanistan should not be used to threaten or attack any country. Further, they asked for the inclusion of women in the formation of the new government.
