Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today gave a powerful farewell speech in which firmly reiterated that he was proud to be a "Hindustani Muslim".

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other members of the House for their words of praise, Azad said: "I am among those fortunate people who never got to visit Pakistan. When I read about the conditions in Pakistan, I feel proud to be an Indian Muslim"

Azad further said that if any Muslim across the world needed to feel proud, it should be the Indian Muslim.

"Our Muslims don't have the ills that other societies are afflicted by. We can proudly say that. But the majority community needs to walk 2 steps forward so that the minority community can walk 10 steps forward," he added.
