Saalumarada Thimmakka meets Kumaraswamy, asks not to axe trees she planted

Padmashri Awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka requested the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy not to cut trees for road widening. Government had identified 287 trees to be cut.

Bengaluru: The government had decided to axe 287 trees that were planted by Saalumarada Thimmakka to widen state highway 94 on Kudur-Hulikal road. Saalumarada Thimmakka had told that she would not allow the government to cut even a branch of any tree she had grown. Then she met chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and requested him not to cut the trees. Kumaraswamy reacted positively and asked Thimmakka to return without any fear and that he will see to it that nothing will happen to the trees. Deputy chief minister G Parameshwara was present on the occasion.
