Pakistanis stranded in India will start returning to their home country from today, the nation’s Foreign Office confirmed on Wednesday.

New Delhi: 41 Pakistani citizens stranded in India because of the COVID-19 lockdown will return via the Wagah-Attari border crossing on Thursday. These 41 Pakistanis are currently in different parts of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Like all other crossing points along India’s land borders, the Wagah-Attari crossing was closed as part of the nationwide lockdown.

The MEA has arranged 12 cars to transport the Pakistanis from different parts of the state to the border. The MEA has also written letters to the director generals of police in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, commissioners of police in Delhi and Amritsar, as well as the director-general of the Border Security Force, asking them to ensure smooth movement of these 12 vehicles.
