Jodhpur: Rajasthan farmers are now battling locust attacks along with the coronavirus crisis. Authorities claim that this year’s locust invasion may surpass that of last year. Villagers allege that the locust invasion from Pakistan’s Sindh province made its arrival for the first time in 26 years on May 21, 2019. This is still a major cause of damage and posed great danger to the green fodder and other agricultural crops.

Official data suggested that crops spread over around 1.5 lakh hectares have been damaged, including Jalore (60,000), Jaisalmer (55,000), Barmer (35,000) and Jodhpur (10,000), by the locust attack. The state government is worried about the economic implications of the locust attack.
