The most expensive player in the IPL history!!! Rishabh Pant has been sold to Lucknow Super Giants for a massive 27 crore. He thus surpassed Shreyas Iyer, who was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore, to become the most expensive player in IPL history.

At the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) paid an incredible Rs 27 crore for India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. He, therefore, became the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing Shreyas Iyer, who was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore.

With the paddles rising, LSG looked to spearhead with a bid of INR 20.75 but were challenged by Delhi Capitals with the Right To Match card. However, The Sanjeev Goenka-owned franchise then played a masterstroke, adding 6.25 crore to the existing price and ending up roping in the 27-year-old.

Pant, who is now playing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, spent eight years with the Delhi Capitals after making his IPL debut. In his 111 IPL games thus far, he has amassed 3284 runs with a strike rate of 148.93.

Here's what Pant wrote on social media

Batting great Sunil Gavaskar hinted that money could have been a factor in Pant's departure from DC, sparking rumors about the cause. Pant, however, asserted that this was untrue. The cricket player responded on social media to a video of Gavaskar outlining the possible factors that led to Pant's departure from DC by saying, "My retention wasn't about the money for sure that I can say."
