Honour killing in Sircilla: Newly married couple brutally murdered by family

Synopsis

The woman's uncles entered her husband's house and attacked the couple with knives. The couple wee neighbours and had fallen in love with each other and had gotten married against the wishes of the girl's family. They were married for just 2 months.

Thursday evening saw the murder of a newly married couple, brutally hacked to death by the girl’s maternal uncles at the boy’s residence in Balarajupalli of Vemulawada mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district of Telangana.

According to Vemulawada Circle Inspector V Madhavi, Neduri Harish (22) and Rachana (20) were neighbours in Balarajupalli. They fell in love with each other two years ago but the girl’s parents didn’t approve of their marriage though they belonged to the same community.

The couple married two months back against the wishes of the girl’s family and were living with Harish’s family. Unable to digest the fact, Rachana’s maternal uncles Ashok, Shekhar and Nagaraju plotted to kill them and were awaiting a chance.

On Thursday evening, Rachana’s three uncles came to Harish’s house on the pretext of discussion and suddenly attacked Harish with knives before his mother Vajramma. They then hacked Rachana and fled the place.

Police registered a case and are investigating the incident. The three culprits are absconding and a search team was launched to nab them.
