
Going by a newly published Apple patent, the next generation of the iPhone will not only be waterproof but might also have underwater photography capabilities.
The patent - submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office linked to Apple - talks about editing software for 'underwater' situations, to ensure that photos don’t have “undesirable tints”.
Earlier this year, another patent was approved for circuitry designed for “submersion detection”. Similarly in 2015, a patent for a "protective barrier" covering ports so as to make the area waterproof.
A CNN Money report suggested that based on the trend, it should not come as a "big surprise" if Apple soon announces waterproof features to its next iPhone.
There are some major announcements slated for the Apple event in September. Rumours has it that the tech giant plans to remove the headphone jack and the traditional ‘home’ button’ for the upcoming iPhone 7 - seen as a move towards making the device water-resistance.
