Theatres find no audience even on holidays

Synopsis

Theaters in Tamil Nadu draw a sorry face even during the weekends. Some theaters have cancelled the online booking charges to reduce the prices. Movie goers are also requesting theaters to cut down the prices of snacks and parking.

It has been ten days since the ticket price was set high due to the implementation of GST, but it seems that the prices are still making impact on the footfalls in theaters. It is now being said that theaters have not pulled the desired crowd even on weekends, like before.

Usually the weekends went house-full, irrespective of the movies being screened but during the last two weekends only few shows in few theatres went house-full.

Rest of the theatres too have drawn less than a 50 percent of crowd.

Till date, the discussion on entertainment tax has not come to an end. Abirami theatre has cancelled the online booking charge and it is the first theatre in Tamil Nadu to take such an initiative. This would save Rs.30. Movie-goers are expecting the same from the other theatres. They also request that the parking and the snacks charges be also brought down.
