GT vs MI, IPL 2025 highlights: Sudharsan, Siraj, Prasidh shine as Gujarat won by 36 runs

Hardik Pandya: Tough to put it together, I think in batting and bowling we were 15-20 runs short in both places. We were not professional in the field, we made basic errors and that cost us 20-25 runs and in a T20 game that is quite a lot. They (GT openers) batted brilliantly, only a couple of deliveries here and there. They were quite exceptional, they didn't take many chances, they did the right stuff, they were able to get runs without playing many risky shots. We were doing catch-up since then. At the moment we all need to take responsibility, it's still early stages. Batters have to come to the party, hopefully they do that soon. On this wicket they (slower deliveries) were the toughest balls, some were shooting, some were bouncing, as batters it becomes difficult.
 

Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans defeated Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians by 36 runs to register their first win of the season. After posting a total of 197/8, GT bowlers restricted MI to 160/6 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked two wickets, while Sai Kishore and Kagiso Rabada scalped a wicket each. 

WICKET! Kagiso Rabada bowled a short-of-a-length delivery outside off. Hardik Pandya (11) attempted his trademark late dab, but Rabada smartly takes the pace off and hit the deck hard. The ball did not come as expected, and Hardik ended up giving a simple catch to Mohammed Siraj at short third man. MI need 63 off 12 balls to win.

WICKET! Prasidh bowls a slower delivery outside off. Suryakumar Yadav (48) tries to loft it but only manages a toe-end, sending the ball high in the air. Shubman Gill, positioned at long-off, runs in and takes a good catch. MI need 77 off 24 balls to win.

WICKET! Sai Kishore bowls a short, angled-away delivery. Robin Minz (3) tries to loft it over the off-side but gets a thick edge, and Ishant takes an easy catch. MI need 89 off 42 balls to win.

WICKET! Prasidh delievered a slow ball and Tilak (39) tried to loft it. But the bat twisted in his hands as he missed the change of pace. Tewatia watched it closely, took a good catch, and controlled it well while sliding. MI need 98 off 48 balls to win.

Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan injured himself while attempting to stop ball off Suryakumar Yadav's shot near the boundary line at long-on. Sudharsan was stopped clutching his left hamstring as soon as he attempted to stop the boundary. He received an immediate attention from the physios, who helped him off the field. He was unable to walk. 

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians need 111 runs off 60 balls to win.

After losing openers in Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton inside powerplay, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav steadied Mumbai Indians' 197-run chase. MI need 128 runs off 72 balls to win.

WICKET! Siraj bowls a full delivery outside off. Rickelton (6) tries to swing across the line but gets an inside edge, and the ball crashes into the stumps. MI need 153 runs off 90 balls to win.

Ishant Sharma did not let Tilak Varma and Ryan Rickelton score runs as he conceded just two runs, includinga a wide in the 4th over of Mumbai Indians' 197-run chase. MI need 165 off 96 balls to win.

WICKET! After conceding two fours on the trot against Rohit Sharma (8), Mohammed Siraj had the last laugh as he dismissed the opener in the first over of Mumbai Indians' 197-run chase. Siraj bowled a good-length delivery around off stump. The ball skidded low, went through Rohit's defense, and clipped the top of the bails. MI need 188 runs off 114 balls to win.

Gujarat Titans set a target of 197 for Mumbai Indians to chase after the hosts posted a total of 196/8. Sai Sudharsan was the top-scorer for GT as he played an innings of 63 off 41 balls. Jos Buttler (39) and Shubman Gill (38) contributed to Gujarat Titans' batting with valuable knocks. 

WICKET! Satyanarayana gets his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Rashid Khan (1). Satyanarayana bowled a full delivery, and Rashid Khan tried to hit it across the field but mistimed his shot. The ball went towards long-on, where captain Pandya took the catch.

After Sai Sudharsan's dismissal, Gujarat Titans lost two more wickets of Rahul Tewatia (0) and Sherfane Rutherford (18) on the trot in the 19th overs

WICKET! Trent Boult got the big wicket of Sai Sudharsan (63). Boult bowls a late inswinger, hitting Sudharsan on the back leg. It looked like it would hit the stumps, and the umpire raised his finger. Sai Sudharsan is out after playing an important innings.

WICKET! Hardik Pandya bowled a short and wide delivery outside off. Shahrukh Khan (9) tried to hit it hard towards deep cover, but Tilak, positioned near the boundary, took a safe catch.

WICKET! Finally a wicket for Mumbai Indians as Hardik Pandya gave the side their first breakthrough. Shubman Gill (38) tried to play a pull shot against Hardik's short ball, but he hit it straight to deep square leg. The ball traveled fast and flat, but Naman Dhir took a good catch in the deep.

Hardik Pandya: We'll bowl first. The simple reason is we don't know how the pitch will play, plus the dew factor. Only last year we played on black soil, otherwise we have been playing on red soil. Last year, we had the game under wraps but couldn't finish it. The prep has been fantastic, the boys are excited and we back each other, be there for each other. Very happy stage. I come back, and the others we are keeping the options open. Always about playing good cricket, planning right and enjoying the game.

Shubman Gill: Batted first plenty of times here, so nothing changes for us. It is all about assessing the conditions and seeing what target we can set, and if we are chasing it is about how to get to that target. Plenty of positives from the last game, we just got slow in the middle and that post us, but still we managed to score about 200 runs in 14 overs. We have got the same team, might see one change with the impact sub. (On opening with Sai Sudharsan) We want to have a lefty - righty combination, and Jos has been playing at 3 for England, so nothing changes for him.
