Frequent travel does not necessarily mean abandoning your balcony garden. By selecting the right plants and making a few preparations, most balcony plants can do well even when you are away. The most important thing is to know the real requirements of your plants for water and sunlight.

Select Plants that Are Not Sensitive to Negligence

If you like going on frequent vacations, select plants that can thrive without much care. Snake plants, pothos, ZZ plants, spider plants and succulents tolerate irregular watering better than other plants with continuously moist soil requirements.

However, there is no plant that doesn’t require any attention at all. Consider the amount of sunlight and usual temperatures on your balcony before selecting plants.

Water Well before Leaving

Water your plants well before traveling, but don’t leave them standing in water. Water the plants until some excess water drips through the pot. But there is no need to pour a lot of water expecting it to last for weeks because the soil can become wet and reduce the amount of air around the roots.
