A 22-year-old female teacher suffered serious burns when an unidentified person threw acid on her at Kattakada near Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
The victim, Jeena, has been admitted to the government medical college hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
Jeena was returning home from work late on Tuesday evening when the motorcycle-borne person attacked her and fled the scene, the police said, quoting eyewitness accounts.
Investigations were on to find out the culprit and the motive for the acid attack, the police added.
