Kerala police arrested an online taxi driver who slapped a woman passenger over a payment dispute. Vinu K B, a native of Kizhakkambalam was arrested following a complaint filed by the passenger.
The 34-year-old driver had gone into hiding soon after police registered a case against him on behalf of the complaint filed by the passenger.
The incident took place on July 4. Avetha Thampatty, a Bengaluru-based digital marketing professional, had booked an Ola cab from Lulu in Edappally to Panampilly Nagar at 8.43 pm. On reaching the destination the driver asked her to make payment in cash, but she had already filled 'Ola money' and made payment through the wallet. On knowing this, the driver started hurling abuses at her, and as the argument tensed, he slapped her.
The passenger wrote about her bitter experience on Facebook and Ola suspended the driver on the same day.
Later she filed a complaint with the police, and they seized the cab and registered a case against the driver.
