Synopsis

Father Thomas Parakulathil, 32, has gone missing since he was booked based on a complaint from a 14-year-old boy. The priest allegedly abused the boy at a seminary back in July.

Fr Parakulathil escaped after being taken into custody, according to reports. It is understood that the police officer who arrested the priest was riding pillion on the priest's bike to the station when he gave the officer the slip and escaped.

The incident throws light into yet another instance of the callous approach that state police takes in dealing with certain cases.

Meanwhile, it's also another case of crimes involving priests. The police had recently arrested Father Robin Vadakkumcherry for raping and impregnating a minor girl in Kannur's Kottiyoor.
