Pinarayi called all-party meet to take credit for Munnar eviction drive: CPI

In a veiled attack on the CPM and the Kerala Chief Minister, the CPI on Monday said that CM Pinarayi Vijayan called the all-party meeting on the Munnar issue to take the credit for the eviction drive. 

In the CPI state executive committee meeting on Monday, party leaders said that the public supports CPI's stand over the removal of encroachments, and the CM was trying his best to take credit. The executive committee asked the revenue department to go ahead with the eviction drive and to remove not only the large­-scale encroachments but also the small ones.

In the all-­party meeting on Sunday, Pinarayi had said that Kerala government would soon initiate steps to evict encroachers of their lands in Munnar and there would be no compromise on this. "The first priority was to remove encroachers, especially the 'big ones' from Munnar. There would be no compromise on that," the CM told reporters after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the CPI executive committee meeting also evaluated that it was unrighteous on the part of the CPM to enter an alliance with Kerala Congress (M) in Kottayam.

“There was no need for the CPM to befriend Mani, who remains isolated. The Left had fought against Mani in the bar bribery case and shouldn't side with the KC(M),” the CPI leaders stressed.
