This maid in Kochi was driven to suicide by her abusive employer

Synopsis

The maid's employer alleged that jewellery was stolen from their residence. The police have charged the employer for filing a false complaint.

A maid in Kochi finally spoke up for herself after her employer filed a false complaint against her. While recounting her tale of horror and abuse, she told the police that she wasn’t paid for four months and was frequently beaten.

The maid from West Bengal gave her statement to the police after her employer filed a robbery case against her. The house help, who was accused of stealing jewellery, said that she was employed through an agency and worked at her employer’s Kalamaserry house for nearly four years. She said that she even ran away and wanted to commit suicide because of the abuse she suffered.

The police have since recovered the alleged stolen gold ornament from the employer, Roshini Nairs’ house and have charged her under Section 182 (filing false complaint) and Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). The victim is currently living at the Government Rescue Home at Kakkanad.
