Jishnu Pranoy murder case has been handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI took over the case after family's request. 

The parents and relatives of Jishnu Pranoy had handed over a petition to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requesting CBI probe into the death of the youth, who was found hanging in the bathroom of the hostel of Nehru Engineering College in Pampady, Thrissur. There were allegations that Jishnu committed suicide following harassment by college authorities. 

Meanwhile, family members of Jishnu alleged that Congress leader K Sudhakaran tried to sabotage Jishnu murder case and had forged suicide note that was found from the bathroom where the student was found hanging. Jishnu's mother Mahija too said that Sudhakaran tried to interfere in the case. "He has no right to ask us to withdraw the case," she said. 

Jishnu's father also said that the leader also tried to protect Nehru College authorities by influencing Sahir, who faced manhandling at Lakkidi Nehru College. The law student had allegedly faced assault at the college. 

Sudhakaran had conducted a meeting with the authorities of Nehru Group and the relatives of the student. However, Shahir said that he won't withdraw his statement.
