In a shocking incident, mother of a 16-year-old boy who committed suicide by hanging at home revealed that he was playing Blue Whale. 

Manoj, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, had downloaded Blue Whale game nine months ago. His mother revealed that they failed to change his mind even after repeated attempts.

The boy had tried various tasks like often going to a cemetery at midnight, jumping to river though her never learned swimming, cut his vein etc, his mother Anu said. 

He had deleated the game from his mobile phone before committing suicide on July 26. The phone had been handed over to the police.

Manoj, who was earlier afraid to go out alone visited several places including cemetery and the sea after he started playing the game. He had also scratched some letters on his hand using compass. 

This is the third case being reported from India. First case was reported from Mumbai where a 14-year-old jumped from building and the second from West Bengal where a 10-year-old committed suicide

As the fear of Blue Whale is tightening its grip across the world, another game 'Mariam' is spreading scare across the Middle East.
