CM Siddaramaiah asks: Who's Amit Shah to seek account details from me?

Synopsis

Amit Shah had remarked that the Congress government was the most corrupt state in the country Shah had sought details of the Centre's funds given to the state government Now, CM has dared the Centre to show proof or come for a public debate on expenditure

Taking strong objection to the remark made by BJP national president Amit Shah that "If people don't seek the accounts of the Centre's funds to the State, I will definitely ask Mr Siddaramaiah about it," Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has shot back "Who is Amit Shah to ask accounts from me?"

"I'm answerable to the people of Karnataka. Let them seek and I will answer. But who is Mr Shah to seek accounts from me," Siddaramaiah said while addressing a gathering of party men during a convention at the National College Grounds.

It may be recalled here that Amit Shah during his three-day visit to the State had called the Congress government in the State, the most corrupt in the country and had even gone on to add that "The state should be given a medal for being the most corrupt state," reports Kannada Prabha.

Siddaramaiah scoffed off at these remarks and wondered on what grounds, Shah and Modi are calling the Congress government, the most corrupt? "Shah must look into his own party where there is Yeddyurappa, Krishnnaiah Setty and Janardhan Reddy who have been jailed on corruption charges. Even Amit Shah himself had been jailed on criminal charges when he was the Home Minister in Gujarat. But he is levelling corruption charges against our Congress government. Enough is enough. Stop making these baseless allegations. Show proof or let's have an open discussion with the Centre on these charges," Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah sought the Centre to provide accounts of the taxes paid by the State to the Centre.
