Synopsis

BJP to lay siege to Vidhana Soudha demanding resignation of DK Shivakumar and Ramesh Jarkiholi BJP national president Amit Shah had criticised the state party leaders' silence on Shivakumar and Jarkiholi Continuous protests and torch light parades to be held for a week at various constituencies

The State BJP has planned to lay siege to Vidhana Soudha on Friday demanding resignation of Energy minister DK Shivakumar and Ramesh Jarkiholi who faced the Income Tax raid recently. BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa is expected to hold a meeting of the party workers and sources said that at least 25,000 workers will gherao Vidhana Soudha, reports Kannada Prabha.

The move comes after the party leaders were pulled up their party national president Amit Shah for not protesting against Shivakumar and Jarkiholi. Amit Shah had remarked that "Is DK Shivakumar a relative to you?" With Yeddyurappa deciding to protest, it now appears that Shah's "tough lessons" seem to have had an impact on the leaders. Yeddyurappa has reportedly called a meeting of the leaders, legislators and BBMP members to discuss the course of action, reports Kannada Prabha.

After the meeting, Yeddyurappa spoke to media persons and said over 25,000 BJP workers will gherao Vidhan soudha demanding resignation of Shivakumar and Ramesh Jarkiholi on whom IT raids were conducted. The members will assemble at Freedom Park at 10.30 am. Then they will proceed in a procession to Vidhana Soudha.

After this continuous protests and torch light parades will be held for a week at various constituencies. Details about ministers who are corrupt will be placed before the public, Yeddyurappa said. The protest will continue till both the ministers resign, he said.
