Karnataka HC issues notice, summons to CM Siddaramaiah following claims of BJP leader Yeddyurappa

Karnataka High Court has issued notices to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with others and also summoned them, examining the petition filed against them by ex-CM and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa. The notices have been issued against print and electronic media houses too.

In his petition, Yeddyurappa had claimed that leaders of the Congress party were giving speeches to the effect of defaming him, and alleged that it further insults the dignity of the court too by interfering into the court's administration of the cases involving him.

After admitting the plea, the court decided to hold a detailed hearing. Along with the Congress leaders including CM Siddaramaiah, it also sent notices to the Press Council of India and Broadcasting Corporation of India for giving publicity to the statements of these leaders allegedly defaming Yeddyurappa.

However, the court has adjourned the hearing to March 26.

Meanwhile, reacting to the notice, CM Siddaramaiah said that he had not defamed the former CM Yeddyurappa. He said, "It is a fact that Yeddyurappa was jailed. I have not lied nor defamed him."
