Illegal detention of woman: HC orders inquiry against CWC chief

Synopsis

The HC passed orders to conduct a departmental inquiry against K Anitha Shivakumar, chairperson of CWC. Anitha is accused of issuing an illegal order to detain a woman in the Bala Mandir for three days. The bench instructed the government to submit a report in this regard on September 11.  

The High Court on Thursday passed orders to conduct a departmental inquiry against K Anitha Shivakumar, chairperson of Child Welfare Department (CWC) for issuing an illegal order to detain a woman in the Bala Mandir for 3 days. 

The HC has issued orders to the director of Women and Child Welfare Department.  It can be recalled that following the High Court order, the State government has suspended Anita Shivakumar, reported Kannada Prabha.

A V Srirama Reddy of Chintamani had filed a habeas corpus petition to the court  alleging his daughter Subhashini was held in captivity for three days at the Bala Mandira at Madiwala. A divisional bench headed by Justice Ravi Malimutt and Justice John Michael  heard the case and issued the order. The bench instructed the government to submit a report in this regard on September 11.
