Heavy rains to plunder Bengaluru for another week, say the reports from Meteorological Department. Some parts of Bengaluru are already drowned and seven more days is surely news to be concerned about.

The Met department had earlier said that the City would face heavy rains till September 8. However, if you thought the monsoon activity would get over today as predicted by Indian Meteorological Department, here is the scary news Bengaluru is all set to receive more rains. 

According to the latest information, heavy rain over 30 to 40 MM would continue to lash for seven more days.

"As there is an over two system that is the trough of low pressure over Arabian Sea East, which may result in rains from Coastal Karnataka and another system over Bay of Bengal East. And also depression over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.

South Interior Karnataka is comprising Kodagu, Hassan, Ballari, Bengaluru,  Ramanagar,  Mandya, Mysuru, Chitradurga, Chamrajanagar, Kolar, Tumkur,  Chikkaballapur and Bengaluru Rural to get rainfall in isolated areas. We also have issued an official statement on IMD website," said Sundar Metri, Director IMD Karnataka.        

Although it is a sign of blessing which may further boost the water storage in major dams like KRS, Kabini, Harangi and other dams but rains in Bengaluru is like a curse due to the failure of BBMP and BWSSB in addressing civic issues, months before the start of rainy season. 

"The roads have caved in at many places. The number of potholes has increased. Stormwater drain works were begun just a days before the rainy season started due to delay by civic agencies in taking up public work. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to the public," said  DS Rakshekhar, a civic activist.
