The Karnataka High Court has given a verdict about the release of Kaala in the state and has asked the government to make necessary arrangements to release the film without any problems in the state.

High Court has also sought the list of theatres and exhibitors to be provided to the state. The court has also said it cannot interfere in any ban matters after CBFC has given its certification.

Following threats by pro-Kannada organisations that Kaala should be banned in the state, producers of the movie Dhanush, Aishwarya had approached the Karnataka High Court seeking legal permission to release the movie in Karnataka. 

The pro-Kannada organisations asked for a ban on the release of Kaala in Karnataka, as the star of the movie Rajinikanth had commented that Karnataka should release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. This had angered the activists who threatened repercussions, if Kaala was released in the state.
