Former Karnataka CM Dharam Singh passes away

Former CM of Karnataka, N Dharam Singh passed away at MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru today.

Dharam Singh also known as the rain minister was the former Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2004 to 2006. He was a nine-time MLA from Jevargi Constituency and was nine-time MLA in total. Dharam Singh was the 17th Chief Minister of Karnataka, and was

80-year-old Dharama Singh was unwell for quite sometime now. He was admitted to Ramaiah Hospital as he suffered a heart ache. The doctors have said that he died of cardiac arrest.

Dharam Singh was born in 1936 on December 25. He has served Karnataka Congress Party in many posts including as PWD Minister, Urban Development Minister, Home Minister, Excise Minister and Revenue Minister.

He obtained his MA and LLB degrees from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has left behind wife Prabhavathi and three children.

Dharam Singh joined Congress when he was just 25 years old. He was known as a politician without any rivals. He was not part of any controversies and had moved away from active politics in 2014 after he lost the Lok Sabha election that year.
