Elephant kills youth as he tries to take selfie at Bannerghatta zoo [Photo]

Synopsis

Youth trampled by elephant when he was taking slefies at Bannerghatta Biological Park. 4 youths had trespassed into the Park and may be drinking alcohol. Police are trying to locate his friends who fled the scene after the accident.

Abhilash V, of Gavipura, Hanumanthanagar, was an elephant lover and was enthusiastic about taking selfies with them. But in the end, his selfie-love is what cost him his life. He had numerous selfies with elephants.

But his selfie with an elephant at Bannerghatta National park turned out to be his last.

Abhilash and his friends had gone to Bannerghatta National Park on bikes on Tuesday. They parked the bikes, while two of his friends stayed back and Abhilash with another friend went to explore the place.

 

They saw the elephant Sundar and an eager Abhilash jumped into the elephant enclosure to take selfies while his friend stayed at a distance. Suddenly the elephant trampled Abhilash. His friends fled the scene.  

Later the mahout saw Abhilash trampled and alerted the officials. A case of trespassing has been booked against the youths, reported Kannada Prabha.

The police found Abhilash’s scooter and mobile phone at the spot. Seeing the photos with elephant they concluded that it was a selfie death. The police also suspect the youth were drunk. The police are trying to find the friends who were with him.  

Abhilash’s brother said Abhilash was very fond of elephants and he always went out of his way to help any elephant in distress. He was working with a SIM distribution company and recently had quit his job.

It can be recalled that in July,2012, another techie Satwik Shastri was also found trampled by the elephant inside Bannerghatta forest and it was also a case of trespassing.
