  • CCB Inspector Mahananda is suspended for not taking action against Rowdy Nagaraj 2006 in the ‘black and white’ dealing.
  • Naga and his children had attacked and snatched Rs 1 crore from a petrol bunk owner
  • The case was handed over to CCB but the investigating officer Mahananda had not taken any action.

CCB inspector Mahananda has been suspended for slackness in investigating a complaint lodged against ex-corporator and rowdy sheeter Nagaraj way back in Dec 31, 2016 with regard to ‘black and white deal.’

A case was booked against Rowdy Naga in ‘black and white deal’ following a raid by the Hennur police on his residence. It was handed over to CCB by the Commissioner. However Mahananda, CCB inspector did not take up the investigation seriously.

Taking serious objection to this Police Commissioner Praveen Sood has transferred Mahananda from CCB to City Criminal Documents centre.  He has also handed over the case to Srirampura police station, sources informed Kannada Prabha.

After the demonetization on November 8, 2016, Naga and his gang had resorted to ‘black and white deal’ exchanging new currency for old currency. He had contacted Ayub Khan a petrol bunk owner who had in his possession Rs 1 crore in new currency.

Naga was introduced to him through a friend Diwakar. Naga offered him a commission of 20 per cent. On Dec 31 Khan and Diwakr went to Naga’s house along with cash.

At Naga’s house, Khan and Diwakar were assaulted by Naga and his sons who also snatched Rs 1 crore cash and sent them out. Khan had lodged a complaint against Naga and his family in Srirampura police station.

On Jan 1, 2017, the Commissioner handed over the case to CCB for investigation. Inspector Mahananda, the investigating inspector, however, did not take interest in the legal proceedings of the case and showed slackness. He did not even conduct a mahajar of the crime spot.  The Court had issued search warrant of Naga’s house giving a time of 24 days. Even then the inspector did not conduct the search.

On April 14, 2017, acting on a complaint by an industrialist Umesh alleging threat and looting by Naga, the Hennur police raided Naga’s house and found cash stacked up amounting to Rs 14 crores in old currency.

During investigation, the senior officials noted that cases were booked against Naga in currency exchange deal in December itself but the inspector had dragged his feet.

The Commissioner had asked CCB ACP Mahadevappa to look into it and submit a report 15 days ago. Following the report, the Commissioner has transferred Mahananda on grounds of negligence of duty.
