
A Knowledge City aimed at upgrading higher education to global level and wifi for all Gram Panchayats by 2018 are among the assurances that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared at the Independence Day speech on Aug 15.
He was speaking at the flag hoisting at Gen Manekshaw Parade Ground on the 71 st Independence Day celebrations in the City, reported Kannada Prabha.
Siddaramaiah said the Knowledge City will be set up to upgrade higher education to international standards. As promised in the previous Independence Day speech around 2500 Gram panchayats will be provided with wifi by this year end and the remaining 3,500 village panchayats will be provided with wifi by 2018.
All Government Polytechnic institutes numbering 23 will be provided with hostel facilities to encourage more girl students to join polytechnics. All colleges in Raichuru and Yadagiri districts will be brought under university by establishing a university at Raichuru.
To bring back the children who are left out of schools, 200 Maulana Azad kind of schools will be set up in next 2 years at the government Urdu schools that are shut down, CM assured.
