The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has decided to consult legal experts regarding approaching the Supreme Court challenging the stay order issued by the Karnataka High Court to investigate against former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in the Shivarama Karantha Layout denotification, reports Kannada Prabha.
This decision by the ACB may pose another hurdle to Yeddyurappa, who was relieved by the HC's stay order. ACB sources say legal experts are being consulted about appealing to the Apex Court and a letter will be written to the State government. The FIR has already been registered and preliminary investigations are on. The stay order from the HC has put a stop to the investigation. An officer from the ACB said the accused is an eminent, influential personality and also the president of a political party. There are chances of destroying the evidence or threatening witnesses. Hence efforts will be made to vacate the stay.
It can be recalled that a complaint was lodged against Yeddyurappa by D Ayyappa on June 7.
