West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected Suvendu Adhikari's resignation today (December 18) and has asked him to meet him on Monday (December 21).   

West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected Suvendu Adhikari's resignation today (December 18) and has asked him to meet him on Monday (December 21). 

The Speaker said on Friday that the resignation has not been accepted owing to procedural flaws.

Biman Banerjee said that Suvendu Adhikari did not hand over the resignation letter to him personally.

Banerjee also said, "I have to see if the resignation letter is genuine. I have not been informed that it is voluntary and genuine. Therefore, I did not accept the resignation letter. I have asked Suvendu Adhikari to meet me on Monday."

Suvendu Adhikari submitted his resignation as MLA at the Assembly secretariat on December 16. The Speaker was not present in the House at that time.

Banerjee said, "Until his resignation is accepted, Adhikari will remain a TMC MLA."
