Government School Girl Builds Flying Fighter Jet From Scrap

Synopsis

A schoolgirl in rural India built a flying fighter jet model from scrap materials. Guided by her teacher, she created a remote-controlled aircraft using thermocol and basic electronics. The project was part of a school initiative promoting hands-on STEM learning.

In a remarkable example of innovation emerging from rural India, a government school girl from Bhilawali village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has gained widespread attention for building a flying model of a fighter jet using scrap materials. The inspiring project has gone viral on social media, drawing praise from educators, officials and netizens alike for showcasing creativity and scientific curiosity at a young age.

The student created a lightweight remote-controlled model inspired by the F-22 Raptor aircraft with the help of basic electronic components and thermocol waste. The project reportedly cost around ₹6,000 and demonstrated how practical learning can help children understand complex scientific concepts through real-world application.

Guided by her teacher, the young innovator also practised flying simulations on a computer before successfully testing the model aircraft in an open field. The aircraft is said to have a flying range of roughly one to one-and-a-half kilometres, reflecting the student’s ability to translate theoretical knowledge into a working technological prototype.

The initiative was part of a broader effort to encourage robotics-based learning and hands-on experimentation in government schools. By transforming discarded materials such as toy motors, wires and plastic components into functional projects, the school has attempted to nurture problem-solving skills, imagination and technical confidence among students.

Education officials and local observers have lauded the achievement, calling it proof that students from resource-limited backgrounds can excel when provided proper mentorship and opportunities. The viral video of the flying jet model has also sparked calls for similar practical learning programmes across the country to inspire future innovators and strengthen grassroots STEM education.
