
4.30 PM: CPI(M) activist Ajayan murder case: RSS-BJP workers acquitted
The seven accused RSS workers in the CPM activist Ajayan murder case in Panoor have been acquitted by Thalassery Additional Sessions Court. Ajayan was killed on March 11, 2009. One of the 9 accused in the case was killed during the trial. Another committed suicide. The verdict in the case came after 14 years. The seventh accused in this case, KC Rajesh, aka Yesu, was hacked to death by CPM workers in 2010.
On the evening of March 11, 2009, the incident occurred in Panur. A group attacked Ajayan after breaking into his store and hacking him. In an attempt to save his life, Ajayan raced to Kumaran's home, but the attackers pursued him and killed him. At the time, Ajay's son was just one and a half years old.

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case over his Modi surname remark. With this, he will be reinstated as MP of Wayanad as well as freely contest polls. Kerala's Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the Congress will continue to fight against the politics of hate and fascism. "Sangh Parivar cannot intimidate or silence us. There is always faith in the Constitution. Thousands support Rahul Gandhi," he said.

The 4-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted in Tirurangadi, Malappuram has identified the accused during the police investigation. The child was lured with a cold drink and taken to his residence. The accused identified as Ram Mahesh Kushwa came to Kerala a year ago for marble work.
