Karnataka rains: PM Modi calls BS Yediyurappa, promises help from Centre

Synopsis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised all support to flood-hit Karnataka when he called chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday to get a briefing on the latest crisis.

New Delhi: Expressing solidarity with people affected by torrential rains in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and assured him of all possible help from the Centre in rescue and relief works.

The Prime Minister on Friday tweeted “Spoke to CM @BSYBJP Ji on the rainfall and flood situation in various parts of Karnataka. We stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers of Karnataka affected by the floods. Assured all possible support from the Centre in rescue and relief works that are underway”.

The districts in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region (Kalyana Karnataka) have been badly affected by the flash-floods the continuous rains in the region have caused. The neighbouring Telangana and Maharashtra too have been badly affected.

Modi also spoke to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of the neighbouring Maharashtra on the floods there.

Meanwhile BS Yediyurappa, in a tweet, said he has briefed the prime minister about the incessant rains and flash floods, and the relief operations that the government has undertaken.

Earlier on the same day, the Chief Minister held a video conference with the deputy commissioners and chief executives of zilla panchayats of the districts affected by rains.
