A man from Sakleshpur was murdered by his wife, her lover and her mother in Karnataka's Kodagu. His body was buried in a coffee estate to hide the crime. A 34-year-old man was found dead and buried in a coffee estate in Karnataka’s Kodagu district, leading to the arrest of three people, including his wife. The victim, Puneeth, was a native of Sakleshpur. His body was discovered in Hemmane village near Shanivarsanthe in Somwarpet taluk.

Wife, her lover and mother arrested

Police have identified the accused as Puneeth’s wife Rathna, her mother Parvathamma, and her alleged lover Praveen. All three have been taken into custody by Shanivarsanthe police, according to a report by the Indian Express.

'Relationship dispute likely'

According to police, Puneeth and Rathna were living in Yasaluru in Hassan district. About a year ago, Rathna reportedly developed a relationship with her distant relative Praveen.

She later moved to Hemmane village to live with him, which is believed to have caused tension between the couple and eventually led to the crime.

Argument turns fatal

On March 29, Puneeth visited Rathna’s house. During the visit, an argument broke out between them.

Police say that during the fight, Puneeth was allegedly attacked by the three accused. He suffered serious injuries and died at the house.

Body hidden to cover up crime

After the murder, the accused allegedly tried to hide the crime. They moved Puneeth’s body to a nearby coffee estate and buried it.

The case came to light when Puneeth’s sister filed a missing person complaint.

Police trace body and arrest accused

During the investigation, police traced the buried body and uncovered the crime. The three accused were then arrested.

A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
