Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa holds meeting with US Consul General, demands to set up US consulate in Bengaluru

Chief minister of Karnataka held a virtual meeting with the US Consul General Judith Ravin on Wednesday (September 16). The meeting was held to discuss Karnataka’s space tech collaboration with the US and plans to set up an US Embassy Office in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: Consul General Judith Ravin of the US Embassy in Chennai held a virtual meeting with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday, September 16.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka mentioned to the US Consul in the meeting that the state has been wishing to set up an US Embassy Office in Bengaluru for many years now and are in the hope to do it soon.

BS Yediyurappa promised all cooperation for opening the US consulate in Bengaluru.

The chief minister also highlighted investment opportunities in Karnataka and said the state was ready to welcome American investment

Yediyurappa mentioned to the Consul General that out of the 100 American companies in India, 90 of them including CISCO, IBM, Intel, HP, Oracle, UTC etc are based in Bengaluru.

Congratulating the state for securing first place in the States’ start-up ranking, Judith Ravin discussed doing a space tech collaboration, expansion of economic affairs, student exchange programs, and research and health services during COVID-19.
