Karnataka: Chamundi Hills, other tourist spots in Mysuru closed till October 18

Sri Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru is closed due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the city. Only vehicles of invitees, staff and dignitaries will be allowed entry from October 15 to 17 for the Dasara inauguration.

Mysuru: With Dasara nearing and the huge spike in COVID-19 cases Mysuru is going to keep all its tourist spots closed until October 18.

Sri Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru is closed due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri has ordered the closure of Sri Chamundeshwari temple till October 18 midnight.

According to DC Rohini Sindhuri, the entry of public to the hill, by road or through steps, has been banned during this period.

However, due to Mysuru Dasara inauguration at the temple on October 17, the vehicles of invitees and dignitaries, officers on protocol and other staff involved in Dasara will be allowed entry from October 15 to 17.

All tourist places like the Mysuru Zoo, Mysuru Palace and Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud too will remain closed for tourists till November 1 due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Mysuru reported 641 new COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday taking the total tally to 43,430. The city also reported 678 discharges and 11 deaths on Wednesday.
