Karnataka bandh likely on September 28; farmers to continue protest until September 26

The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha have called for a Karnataka bandh on Monday, September 28. The farmers had earlier called for a bandh on September 25 which has now been postponed.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha have called for a Karnataka bandh on Monday, September 28 against the Farm Bills and said that over 30 organisations have extended their support.

While it was first announced that there would be a state-wide bandh on September 25, now 9 farmers associations under the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha have decided for Karnataka Bandh on September 28.

On Wednesday morning, the farmers had announced that there will be no bandh on September 25, however, all national highways and state highways will remain closed. But the farmers have now decided not to block the highways, and they will operate normally on September 25.

On September 25, the farmers will conduct a protest at the Mysore Bank Circle. Close to 5000 farmers are expected to take part in the protest.

On Tuesday, Dalit organisations, labour unions, private taxi owners’ association, lorry owners’ association and auto unions in Bengaluru had come out in support and backed the bandh call by the farmers.
