
The people of Kolkata have lost faith in those who are supposed to keep them safe after a police officer was arrested on charges of molesting a transgender woman. The transgender woman, a member of the West Bengal Transformational Development Board, lodged a written complaint at the Boubazar Police station.
According to sources, the police officer has been accused of indecency while working as Additional OC (2) of the Traffic Guard of South West Police Station. He was arrested and produced to the court after receiving the complaint. However, the police officer was later released on bail.

The incident took place on Monday (September 21) night. A transgender woman and her two girlfriends were returning home from Dumdum. At around 8 pm, they parked their car to have coffee at a restaurant near Chandni Chowk in Bowbazar Police station area. At that moment, the accused police officer Abhishek Bhattacharya got into their car.
The police officer tried to molest the transgender and her friends. He beat the car driver badly. The accused even tried to forcefully kiss the women.

After the incident, initially the victims filed a complaint in Lalbazar Police station. Later, the transgender woman also lodged a complaint at Boubazar Police station.
