Indian army seeks and destroys Hizbul commander, stone pelting starts in Kashmir

Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and the successor of Burhan Wani, was killed along with another terrorist at Tral, Pulwama The Indian Army on Friday foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team. Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and the successor of Burhan Wani, was killed along with another terrorist at Tral, Pulwama. 

Ahmad, alias Abu Zarar, was killed after he along with two others were trapped in a house in Tral. The 42 Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off the area. There was heavy firing between the terrorists and the security forces and Ahmad and Faizan Muzaffar Bhatt died. The other terrorist is a Pakistani. 

In another encounter in Rampur, the army foiled an infiltration bid and killed six terrorists. This was carried out after soldiers noticed suspicious movement along the LOC in the early hours of Saturday.

The Indian Army on Friday foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team. Indian army also killed two terrorists at Uri. They suspect the two were part of the Border Action team.

A total of 10 terrorists has been killed.

Stone pelting started after the news of the Hizbul commander’s death spread.

Sabzar Ahmad Bhat became Burhan Wani’s successor after Zakir Musa, who had taken over after Wani died last year, left the terrorist group.

Internet services were back up in Kashmir today after a month long ban. But audio messages urging people to take to the streets started doing rounds immediately after Ahmad’s death. Stone pelting incidents have been reported in some parts of south Kashmir including Tral in Pulwama and Khanabal in Anantnag district.

The government has again banned internet services in the state including social media apps like facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp.

Combing operations are on in the Rampur sector of Jammu and Kashmir
